Milk or Alkaline Water For Your Bones?

WHAT IS OSTEOPOROSIS?

Osteoporosis is a disease in which the bones become extremely porous and fragile. This can lead to fractures, especially of the spine, hip and wrist, although any bone in the body can be affected.

34 million Americans have a low bone density and may develop Osteoporosis. This number includes both women and men although the illness is mostly seen in women. Osteoporosis can develop at any age, especially if you suffer from any chronic disease like asthma or arthritis.

Osteoporosis is often called a "silent disease" since there are no clear symptoms. Many people don't even realize they've had osteoporosis for several years before being diagnosed with it. Their bones gradually get thinner until, one day, a fracture occurs.

The natural state of our cells are slightly alkaline. In order for you to function and remain healthy and alive, these cells must maintain alkalinity. The pH level of your blood absolutely must remain at 7.35 - 7.45.The cellular activity of the cell creates acid and this acid is what gives the cell energy and function. The acid waste is taken care of by the body that expel these acids naturally.

BUT, when we eat and drink too much acid forming foods, like animal protein, grains, dairy and alcohol, the body gets overloaded with acids and can't get rid of it all. When the body can't get rid of the excess acid, it temporarily stores the acid in the spaces around the cell (fat) believing that one day, the acid will be released into the blood to be removed.

The body knows that in order to balance the acid, it has to make the blood alkaline. How does it do that? When our mineral reserves are low the body takes calcium from our bones and releases it into the blood. This leads to something called "free calcium excess" which is what's behind osteoporosis and arthritis.

Some factors that is believed to add to the risk of developing osteoporosis:
  • Lack of exercise
  • High alcohol and caffeine intake (acidic)
  • Low lifetime calcium intake
  • Smoking
  • Some medicines can stop the body from absorbing calcium
  • Changes in hormone levels, especially women in menopause
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • People that have family members suffering from osteoporosis
  • Anorexia nervosa
Knowledge is key! Learn as much as you can about osteoporosis. Consider talking to specialists and your doctor.
Prevention is much easier and better than curing osteoporosis. Treatment aims to reduce the rate of bone loss and the building of new bone.
  • Exercise, use your body!
  • Reduce coffee and alcohol intake
  • Reduce or even stop smoking cigarettes
  • Eat plenty of alkaline food
  • DRINK PLENTY OF ALKALINE WATER!
Changing your diet is often a difficult process. Luckily, advances in technology have delivered the ability to create extremely alkalized water with potent anti oxidizing properties.

Changing the water you drink is much easier than the food you enjoy! Although we don't recommend it as a substitute to eating more healthy, we certainly feel high alkaline water is a great step towards balancing your body.

The only water we recommend is Kangen water
